PA school bus crashed with minivan, driver flown to hospital

Wampum, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) ― Police reported a school bus and a minivan crashed in Lawrence County sending one to the hospital for critical injuries, Monday morning, February 15, 2010, according to KDKA.

Pennsylvania state police rushed to the scene of motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Route 18 and Clyde Street in Wampum in the early morning. Officials reported that the school bus was traveling with 10 elementary school children on board at the time of the crash. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to assist and transport the injured.

At the scene, police tried to determine how the accident happened and what factors were involved. It was not known at the time of the report. The school bus driver and all the school children on board were not victim to injury. The driver of the minivan sustained serious trauma in the wreck and had to be flown via helicopter to an area hospital for doctors and nurses to treat their injuries. The victim’s condition and identity were not disclosed.

It was not known if the children were on their way to school. The school where the children reportedly attend is in the Mohawk Area School District. It was not reported if police issued any citations for the motor vehicle accident. The investigation continues.
