FDA Recall: Salmonella found in Trader Joe’s granola bars

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled Trader Joe’s granola bars.

Los Angeles, CA—Trader Joe’s Company of Monrovia, CA, has announced a voluntary recall of Trader Joe’s Chocolate Chip Chew Coated Granola Bars because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The recall was issued on Wednesday, February 10, 210, as reported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) http://www.fda.gov/.

The recalled granola bars have UPC 82818 with Use by Dates/Lot Codes 16JUL10H2 and 17JUL10H1, that is imprinted on the top of the box and stamped individually on the side of every granola bar. Bloomfield Bakery manufactured the snacks, which is a subsidiary of Ralcorp Holdings, Inc. The product was sold at Trader Joe’s stored across the U.S., in a 7.4 oz box. At this time no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall. All customers who have purchased the recalled product are asked to return the granola bars to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund. Salmonella infections can be serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, elderly or frail, or people with weak immune systems. Infection symptoms include fever diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. If you feel you may have a Salmonella infection, you should seek medical assistance immediately.
