MA pedestrian struck by car in crosswalk

Hyannis, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A male pedestrian was tragically struck by a motor vehicle on Main Street in Hyannis, Monday, February 8, 2010, according to the Cape Cod Times.

The police officials of Barnstable reported that the man was apparently walking in the crosswalk near 231 Main Street around 11 a.m. when one driver stopped to let the man continue crossing. Suddenly, another motor vehicle rear-ended the first vehicle, which launched the car into the pedestrian causing serious injuries.

Emergency medical services (EMS) and the Hyannis Fire Department fire rescue rushed to the aid of the seriously injured pedestrian. While lying on the pavement still conscious, medics began to bandage him up and treat his injuries. The man, who remained unidentified, was taken via ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was treated and cared for by doctors and nurses. His injuries were not specified and his condition was not known.

The two drivers involved in the personal injury accident reportedly sustained minor injuries in the crash and were also transported to the hospital. Both the drivers remained unidentified. It was not reported if charges were pressed.
