Florida construction accident lawyer alerts- OSHA notified of fatal fall that killed construction worker.

Palm Coast, FL—A fatal workplace accident occurred when a worker fell off the roof of the Epic Theaters, currently under construction in Town Center. The unfortunate construction accident occurred on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, according to information provided by the News-Journal Online.

A construction worker, employed by the subcontractor for the job, Palatka Welding, was reportedly working on the roof of the soon-to-be Epic Theaters, when he fell nearly 25-feet to his death. The incident reportedly occurred at 10 a.m. in the building, located on Central Avenue. Flagler County Sheriff’s Department officials allegedly responded to the scene of the tragic workplace accident at 10:17 a.m. The construction worker, identified as 40-year-old Daniel Vance Caldwell, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:25 a.m.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) http://www.bls.gov, there were 680 fatal workplace falls in 2008, which is a 20 percent decline from 847 fatal falls reported in 2007. Occupational fatal injuries reported in regards to workers falling from roofs in 2008 reportedly went down 26 percent from the year before. It is also reported that a total of 5,071 employees suffered fatal workplace injuries in 2008. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov has reportedly received notification of the incident and investigations are underway.
