Staten Island woman killed in Va. Crash

Legal news for New York motor vehicle accident attorneys –Staten Island woman fatally injured in motor vehicle accident in Interstate 95.

Staten Island, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) –- A fatal collision claimed the life of a New York resident on I-95 in Stafford, Virginia Tuesday evening, February, 2, 2010, according to the Staten Island Advance.

Virginia State police reported to the scene where Benezra, was traveling northbound on Interstate 95 when another vehicle came at her on the wrong side of the road. Her 2005 Chrysler Sebring was struck head-on by a woman driving a 2010 Mercedes sedan. Police reported that the driver, identified as 57-year-old Vickie Lane Beach, was operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Police reported that the crash occurred at 7:10 p.m.

Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to transport the injured. Medical professional took Benezra via ambulance to Mary Washington Hospital where doctors attempted to save her in her severe state. Sadly, her injuries proved fatal at 10 p.m. that night. It was not known if her family was contacted about the motor vehicle accident. Beach was also taken to the hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries. She was charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence.

According to reports, Rachel Benezra was the second Staten Island resident to be fatally injured in an out-of state motor vehicle accident that was alcohol-related.
