Pittsburgh, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A Port Authority bus crashed into a parked Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) truck on a Parkway East entrance ramp injuring both drivers at 6 a.m., February 1, 2010, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Responding officials reported that the PennDOT truck was parked on the left shoulder of the ramp when the Port Authority bus driver slammed into the truck in the early morning crash near Wilkinsburg. Officials on the scene reported that both drivers were injured and needed medical attention, and the Port Authority driver was trapped in his vehicle. He had to be cut out of his vehicle and reportedly sustained severe leg injuries.

The drivers were not identified in the accident and were both taken to UPMC Presbyterian located in Oakland to be treated by doctors and nurses. Both of the drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries. There were no passengers on either vehicle at the time of the crash. The PennDOT driver was in the process of routine winter patrol work when the Port Authority bus crashed into the truck. Traffic was blocked from the using the ramp to the outbound Parkway until 8 a.m., when the lane reopened.
