Utica man injured in snowmobile-truck crash

Legal news for New York motor vehicle accident attorneys—A motor vehicle crash occurred when a pickup truck fatally injured a man on a Polaris snowmobile in Marcy, NY.

Marcy, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A man riding a snowmobile was struck by a pickup truck on Friday night, January 15, 2010, according the Observer-Dispatch.

The motor vehicle accident occurred on Barnes Avenue at 11:30 p.m., where police and paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after. Officials arrived at the scene to discover that the 1995 Polaris snowmobile had been traveling north, when the driver failed to make a turn and slid in front of a 2001 Ford F-150. Police identified the injured operator of the snowmobile as 21-year-old Shane Young, who was taken into an ambulance and transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Doctors and nurses treated Young for back, neck and leg injuries. He was listed in serious condition on Saturday. The driver of the pickup truck was identified as 21-year-old Jonathan Hare, who survived the motor vehicle crash unharmed. Investigating police reported that drugs and alcohol were not found to be contributing factors in the accident. It was not known if police had issued any tickets to either one of the drivers. The investigation continues.
