Randolph, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – The government agency, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov, in cooperation with Primal Vantage Co. Inc, issued a voluntary recall January 7, 2010, of Ameristep Plastic Strap-On Tree Step, due to the danger of it breaking while in use. All who have purchased this product are urged to discontinue use immediately.
There were about 16,000 Ameristep Plastic Strap-On Tree Steps recalled. The defective products, manufactured in Randolph, New Jersey, can pose a fall hazard for the person using it. Thus far, there were five complaints to the company about step breakage including two reports of consumer injury in the form of bruises and lacerations.
This product is described as being a plastic step, which is connected to a tree with a nylon strap and a hefty metal buckle. The product was developed for hunters to be able to climb a tree from an elevated position over a desired gaming animal. The model numbers are 105 and 155 and both have a date code of 12/08, which can be located on the plastic part of the step.
The China-made product was sold at participating outdoor and sporting good store across the country in 2009. All who have purchased the products are advised to stop using them, and to contact Primal Vantage to learn how to receive a refund. The company asked that the products not be returned to the place of purchase, because refunds may only be obtained directly from the company.
