Concord, NH (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A tragic two-vehicle collision on Spaulding Turnpike nearly claimed the life of one man around 3:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 2009, according to Fosters Daily Democrat.

Police, emergency medical services (EMS) and fire department officials rushed to the scene of the crash between Exits 16 and 17 where a 2006 Hummer H2 collided with a 2002 GMC Denali. The impact of the collision sent the GMC off the highway into some trees, while the H2 laid on its passenger side in the southbound lanes of Spaulding Turnpike. One woman had to be rescued and pulled out of the damaged H2.

Fire department officials used the Jaws of Life, hydraulic rescue tools, to extricate the elderly woman out of the Hummer. It was not reported if she required medical attention. The driver in the GMC suffered severe injuries in the wreck. He was taken via trauma helicopter to be treated at Maine Medical Center by doctors and nurses. Medical officials reported that the unidentified man was in very critical condition.
