Elderly man fatally injured by SUV in New Milford

Legal news for Connecticut Personal Injury attorneys – A volunteer ambulance took an injured elderly man after he was struck by an SUV.

New Milford, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – An elderly pedestrian was crossing Route 7 when he was struck by an SUV Monday afternoon, December 21, 2009 according to the Danbury News Times.

Police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the tragic scene of the accident that occurred at 5 p.m. A nearby clerk was working at his store when he saw the helpless elderly man laid on the ground covered in blood near Willow Springs Condos. The SUV was reportedly traveling at speeds of 50 miles per hour when he struck the pedestrian. Police identified the gravely injured man as 84-year-old Bruno Morini, of New Milford.

A LifeStar trauma helicopter was initially called in to transport Morini, however he fell into cardiac arrest. New Milford Volunteer Ambulance transported the seriously injured man to Danbury Hospital where his injuries proved fatal and he passed away hours after arrival. It was not reported if Morini had surviving family that was notified of the fatal accident.

The driver who struck Morini had stopped at the scene after the crash. He remained unidentified. Responding police officials temporarily closed off Route 7 between Still River Road and Dodd Road. The investigation continues.
