Randolph, VT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A train collided with an elderly couple’s vehicle in Randolph Saturday morning, December 19, 2009, according to NECN.
Police officials and Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene. It was reported that the elderly husband and wife, were traveling down School Street in the morning when the crossing lights and bells were reportedly working at the train tracks when they approached the tracks. The Amtrak train had been coming down the tracks at 59 miles an hour, which is the speed limit for the area, when the elderly couple’s car was struck.
EMS transported the severely injured couple to different hospitals for treatment. The woman, 84-year-old Mary Mosher was taken to Gifford Hospital where her wounds tragically proved fatal upon arrival. Her husband, Everett Mosher, was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where doctors and nurses treated his critical injuries, however he passed away a short while after.
A witness who heard the wreck reportedly told police that the car could have avoided the tragic accident if it had been 2 ahead of the train.One-hundred passengers, who were going home to see their family and friends for Christmas, were on board the train for four hours while police investigated the fatal wreck.
