Connecticut Injury Report: Pedestrian killed by semi truck on I-91

Rocky Hill, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — Connecticut State troopers reported to the scene where a semi truck fatally struck a pedestrian Tuesday, December 15, 2009 according to Nashua Telegraph.

The tragic accident occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 91 in Rocky Hill, south of Hartford, when a person ran across the northbound lanes of traffic into the southbound lanes where the semi truck struck him. State police officials and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene near exit 23 before 2 a.m. early Tuesday morning.

Witnesses reported that the pedestrian appeared to have been running across the highway before the big rig hit him. The driver of the semi truck remained unidentified. It was not reported if he was injured in the wreck. A Medical examiners officer was called to the scene to attempt to identify the mangled body of the pedestrian.

Police have not released any information pertaining to the injurious wreck as of yet. The southbound lanes where the accident took place were closed for hours afterward. State Troopers have since reopened the southbound lanes for normal traffic flow on the Interstate.
