Boston, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – An ice cream truck crashed into a bridge and then rolled over, consequently pushing another vehicle into a utility pole Sunday morning, December 13, 2009, according to the Bostonchannel.com.
One woman suffered serious injuries, reported responding police. The crash took place at 8:20 a.m. when the truck launched into the railroad overpass close to 426 East Street, causing the delivery truck to flip over and then continue to ricochet into the woman’s vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction of the truck. The impact sent the woman’s car soaring into a N-Star utility pole.
The serious accident occurred in Westwood, reported police. The injured woman was only identified as a female in her 50s. She was transported by emergency medical services (EMS) to a local hospital to be treated for her critical injuries by doctors and nurses.
Police noted that decals on the truck stated that it was owned by Gifford’s Ice Cream in Skowhegan, Maine. Police deputies reported that East Street was temporarily closed for more than an hour so that a tow truck could flip the ice cream truck right side up. Police continue to investigate what caused the crash.
