Two-vehicle crash claims Massachusetts man’s life

Legal news for Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Accidents—State police reported to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident on Massachusetts Turnpike, where three people were injured and one was killed.

Boston, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A two-vehicle accident on the Massachusetts Turnpike claimed the life of one man, reported by the Milford Daily News, on December 8, 2009.

Police and emergency medical services (EMS) rushed to the scene in Ludlow, where a Dodge van jumped the median on Interstate 90 and swerved into the westbound lanes, struck the guardrail, and then crashed into a Chevy pickup truck.

Police identified the driver of the 2000 Dodge Ram as 73-year-old Raoul Daunais, who suffered fatal wounds in the wreck and was declared dead at the scene. A passenger in the 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck was identified as 37-year-old James Godfrey, also sustained severe injuries in the crash.

The driver of the Chevy pickup truck, identified as Christopher Merrill, who was taken to Bay State Medical Center in Springfield along with Godfrey to be treated by doctors and nurses. A female passenger traveling in the vehicle with Daunais was also taken by ambulance to Bay State Medical Center.

Massachusetts State Police continue to investigate the fatal wreck with the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team, and the Crime Sector. The Medical Examiner’s office was present as well.
