Product Liability Recall: Children’s Plush Books Due to Choking Hazard

Legal news for New York Product Liability lawyers–Consumer Product Safety Commission and the NY company recalled toddler toy frog lush books that may cause injury.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Simon & Schuster Inc., of New York, N.Y. voluntarily recalled “Monday the Bullfrog Plush Books” on December 9, 2009, due to choking hazard for children.

The product, Monday the Bullfrog Plush Book, manufactured in China, sold about 142,000 at retail stores and book stores across the United States to consumers. All who have purchased the books are advised to discontinue use immediately.

The reason for the mass recall is that the plastic eye on the frog can become detached, and may pose a choking hazard to toddlers and young children. The company has received three reports of instances where the piece of plastic came off the product; however there have been no injuries reported.

The children’s product is described as a Plush puppet bullfrog named Monday, with a board book attached to the frog’s mouth. The ISBN numbers are 10: 1416912312 and 13: 9781416912316, which can be found printed inside the mouth of the bullfrog. They were sold from January 2006 through November 2009 for $18. Contact the company for a free replacement at (800) 732-9531 between or go to Simon & Schuster’s website at http://kids.simonandschuster.com.
