Suffolk County, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A crash involving two school buses fatally injured one driver in Mastic Beach, Monday, December, 7, 2009.

Suffolk County police reported to the scene where a GMC van had been heading south on Mastic Road when he slammed into a school bus, which then struck the back of another school bus. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to transport the injured. Police identified the driver of the GMC van as 32-year-old Jose Gonzales, of East Patchogue who was critically injured in the 6:45 a.m. accident.

The van had rear-ended the buses when traffic was at a standstill at the intersection of Clinton Avenue during the morning crash. EMS transported the injured Gonzales to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center located in East Patchogue to be treated by doctors and nurses. He was declared dead shortly upon arrival.

The two school bus drivers were also transported to the hospital for complaints of head and neck pain. There were reportedly no students on either bus at the time of the collisions. Police detectives continue to investigate the tragic and fatal collision.
