Motor Vehicle Crash Report: Firefighters extricate fatally injured woman

Ephrata Township, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A tragic two-vehicle wreck claimed the life of one woman Monday night, December 7, 2009, announced the Intelligencer Journal.

Ephrata Township police officials arrived at the scene of the wreck where an eastbound pickup truck had collided with a westbound van turning left at the South ramp on Route 222. The crash occurred at 5:41 p.m.

Firefighters arrived to assist with the damaged vehicle. A woman reportedly was fatally injured and remained trapped in the van. Firefighters worked tirelessly until the female passenger of the van was extricated. Emergency medical services (EMS) transported the severely injured woman to be treated at Lancaster General Hospital, where medical officials declared her to be dead.

The man who was operating the van was also taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition was not known. Police officials reported that the male driver of the pickup truck appeared to have escaped without injuries. The names of the victims involved in the two–vehicle accident were not released due to pending notification of their relatives.

Emergency teams stayed on the scene of the fatal crash for an hour and a half while police continued to probe the crash evidence.
