Legal news for Connecticut Motorcycle Accident attorneys–Emergency officials reported a State trooper was injured in a motorcycle accident in Cheshire, Connecticut.
Cheshire, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A motorcycle collided with a motor vehicle around 5 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2009, announced the Hartford Courant.
The off-duty State trooper was operating the motorcycle while riding with a female passenger when they collided with a car in Cheshire on Route 322, Sunday afternoon.
Police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene. The state trooper was reportedly injured in the wreck. The female passenger was fatally injured in the crash. Neither one of the riders were wearing helmets, which is not required by law to wear helmets in the state of Connecticut.
EMS teams transported the injured trooper to St. Mary’s Hospital located in Waterbury, where he was treated for his wounds that were determined to be non life-threatening.
Police reported that the driver of the car was traveling on Route 322 with one passenger. Both people remained unharmed. Emergency officials had to extricate the driver from the damaged vehicle.
The identities of the four victims involved were not released. Although Connecticut dose not require bikers to wear helmets when operating a motorcycle, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) www.nhtsa.gov created a Motorcycle Safety Program to help riders stay safe and alert on the road with other vehicles.
