Maryland worker crushed and killed by construction truck

Frederick County, MD (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — Maryland police officials reported to a Route 85 construction site where an LAI Construction employee was run over and killed by a construction motor vehicle on Thursday, November 5, 2009 in Frederick County, announced the Gettysburg Times.

Police identified the fatally injured man as 57-year-old Carroll Michael Rehmert, resident of Brooklyn Park. Officials declared his injuries to have proved fatal at 2:52 p.m. at the scene of the accident on Route 85 near Lime Kiln Road.

Carroll Rehmert had been employed as a flagman in an area where damaged lines in the road were being restored, when the accident occurred. When Rehmert stopped traffic in the northbound lanes the truck backed over him, which pulled Rehmert under the rear axle of the vehicle.

The driver, 37-year-old Anthony Wayner Lamburn, resident of Alum Bank, Pennsylvania panicked and then put the truck into drive crushing the victim again. Rehmert was killed at the scene.

Both men worked for LAI Construction, a Maryland-based company. It was not reported if the Occupational Safety and Health officials (OSHA) www.OSHA.gov were contacted about the fatal incident.
