SUV rollover Notice: Massachusetts woman injured in wreck

West Barnstable, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A West Yarmouth woman was fatally injured in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) rollover accident on Route 6 in West Barnstable Sunday, November 4, 2009, announced the Cape Cod Times.

Police revealed that the single-vehicle rollover crash occurred around 8 a.m., which closed the eastbound lanes temporarily while rescue crews to cleaned up the debris and spillage of the wrecked SUV. Emergency medical services (EMS) transported the 34-year-old Yarmouth woman to the Cape Cod Hospital for traumatic and internal injuries, according to police reports.

Fire Rescue officials reported that the critically injured woman was identified as 34-year-old Nicole Gomes after she crashed her 2003 Dodge Durango between exits 6 and 5.

She was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. The Durango’s roof was pushed inward from the impact of the rollover. The SUV leaked anti-freeze, gasoline, and oil all over the road as a result of the wreck. Police did not know what caused the accident.

The wrecked vehicle came to the halt on its roof in the fast lane, but the debris of the crash closed all 6 lanes of Route 6 for an hour. Massachusetts State police are continuing to investigate the crash.
