Brooklyn: NY Corrections Officer Kills Pedestrian

Brooklyn, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A New York State Corrections officer hit and fatally injured a pedestrian on his way to work Tuesday morning in Brooklyn, announced 1010WINS.

Police reported that the correctional officer, identified as Damon Padmore, worked at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. Damon was traveling north in his Ford Expedition in Brooklyn when he approached the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and St. Marks Avenue in the section of Prospect Heights when he struck the pedestrian. It was not reported that if the female pedestrian was in the crosswalk.

The Tuesday morning accident took place around 5:20 a.m., according to police sources. Police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived to the scene shortly after. EMS transported the injured 38-year-old woman to a local hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses. She passed away soon after arriving at Methodist Hospital. Police did not release the victims name, only that she was a mother from Brooklyn.

The corrections officer already noted as 38-year-old Damon Padmore. He has been with the Corrections Department for 12 years. Police took him into custody after the fatal crash. He will most likely be charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, according to police.
