Personal Injury News: Pedestrian fatally injured by car on Route 9D in New York

Fishkill, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews) – A vehicle crashed into a pedestrian walking on Route 9D on Wednesday evening, October 28, 2009 in Dutchess County, announced the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Police officials reported that the man was identified as 43-year-old Dan Katzenberger, resident of Beacon. Dan had been walking alongside the southbound lanes of traffic close to Vellano Drive when a car, identified as a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, came barreling down the road and struck him.

Police reported the tragic incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., Wednesday evening. The driver of the Pontiac that hit the pedestrian was identified as 45-year-old Kenneth Frost, resident of Middletown. Dan was heading north on the road when he was fatally injured by the crash. The Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived and declared that Dan’s injuries had proved fatal at the scene.

The Sheriff’s department gave Kenneth a ticket for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. His license was suspended for a past unpaid ticket. The Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Company also responded to the call of the fatal incident. The Chelsea Fire Department firefighters were on the scene to assist. Police are continuing to investigate the fatal accident.
