Legal news for New York Motor Vehicle Accident attorneys–New York state troopers and Nassau County police report a fatal head on collision that injured two in fiery wreck.

Schodack, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A police chase on Route 20 ended in fiery wreck that fatally injured one driver and injured two other people Wednesday morning, October 28, 2009 according to the Albany Times Union.

New York State Police reported to the scene where two vehicles that they had been pursuing had crossed the centerline, and struck another vehicle head-on. Both New York State Troopers and Nassau County police were pursuing two separate vehicles at the time when one of the drivers reportedly lost control, and slammed into another car going the opposite direction.

The impact of the collision launched one of the vehicles into the air, flipped, and burst into flames, leaving the driver imprisoned inside the badly damaged vehicle. The driver died inside the vehicle before medical and rescue officials could get him out. The other people involved in the crash were transported via EMS to Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Traffic was redirected due to the wreck to Route 9 South. Police investigators reported that it appeared that the car that was engulfed in flames was following a green Jeep Cherokee, which left the scene of the accident. The Jeep did not have a license plate. Police are continuing to investigate the fatal accident.
