Massachusetts pedestrian struck by car in Hatfield

Hatfield, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A man crossing the street was violently struck by a car Wednesday morning, October 28, 2009, announced the Republican.

Massachusetts police reported that the male pedestrian was walking across Route 5 in the early morning when a car traveling down the street and crashed into the man, severely injuring him.

Police and Massachusetts emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene on Route 5, also known as West Street, near the Sister’s convenience store location. Police reported the tragic incident to have occurred around 5:45 a.m.

The seriously injured victim was transported to the Baystate Medical Center located in Springfield via ambulance to be treated by doctors and nurses. His injuries were described as serious. His identity was not released.

The driver of the vehicle was not reported as injured. A female passenger traveling in the vehicle at the time of the crash sustained minor injuries and was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital located in Northampton. Her injuries were treated and she was permitted to leave the supervision of medical care.

It was not reported if the male pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk. Massachusetts State police are investigating the incident to determine the cause.
