Town of Lockport, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A woman collided with a semi truck on Thursday night when she was turning onto Transit Road on October 22, 2009, according to Lockport Union-Sun & Journal.

The woman from Lockport was driving her sliver Toyota car down Fisk Road when she failed to yield to traffic while making a turn west onto Transit. The woman hit the semi truck that was traveling southbound on Transit. The semi truck driver lost control of his large vehicle and swerved off the road taking out a yellow fire hydrant, reported officials.

Police identified the female driver as 17-year-old Katrina Schlum, resident of Lockport, who suffered minor injuries from the airbag going off in the crash. Emergency medical services (EMS) transported Katrina to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport to be treated for her neck injuries, reported Niagara deputies.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department investigated and took care of the motor vehicle collision. Officials reported the semi truck and Katrina’s damaged vehicle were taken by a tow truck to Beauman’s Garage.
