Maine woman killed in NY collision with semi truck

Legal news for New York Motor Vehicle Accident lawyers— Police reported a fatal collision when a supermini crashed into a semi truck where one driver was fatally injured.

Clermont, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A woman from Waltham, Maine was fatally injured on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 when her sub-compact vehicle collided with a semi truck head on, announced the Mid-Hudson News.

Police from Columbia County reported to the scene of the serious crash to find out that the damaged British-made car known as a “supermini” had crashed with a semi truck early morning around 8:40 a.m. The accident took place on Route 9G north of Cemetery Road in Clermont, New York.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Helene Stril-Rever. When police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene, her injuries had already proved fatal. Sheriff David Harrison Jr. declared the young woman dead.

Helene’s car had driven in the wrong lane for undetermined reasons when she collided with the semi truck that was reportedly owned by Boregen Tricking located in Greene County. The truck driver was only identified as a 42-year-old Freehold man.

Police reported him to be unharmed in the fatal collision. According to reports, both Helene and the truck driver had been buckled in their seat belts. Police investigators continue to look into the crash to determine the cause.
