Howell, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A pedestrian was seriously injured when she was struck by a car on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 on West Farms Road, announced the Asbury Park Press.

Police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene. The pedestrian was on the ground, and the driver of the Buick Century that struck the woman was present at the scene.

Police reported that the accident took place close to Secretariat Street on West Farms Road. The time of the accident was reportedly 8:10 p.m. according to the officials on the scene. EMS transported the injured pedestrian identified as 48-year-old Karen Sanger, to the Jersey Shores University Medical Center to be treated for her injuries by doctors and nurses. She reportedly was being treated for head trauma and a fractured leg.

Police identified the driver of the Buick as 50-year-old Elaine Schlechtweg-Greiner, resident of Howell. Elaine and her passenger identified as 53-year-old Richard Camano, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

According to officials, Karen had been dressed in dark attire when she attempted to cross the poorly lit street. No one had been charged as of yet. Police reported that if anyone has any information regarding this incident to call Officer Scott Brooks, of the Department’s traffic safety team at 732-938-4111.
