A school bus collided with police van on Vine Street Expressway injuring two police officers.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — On a Pennsylvania highway, a police van transporting a bus load of prisoners, crashed into a school bus on Wednesday morning, October 14, 2009, announced the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The collision occurred during the early rush hour on the westbound lanes of traffic, on Interstate 76. The collision took place before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. The prison inmate van was transporting ten inmates to an undisclosed location. The school bus that was hit by the van was not transporting any children at the time of the collision.

Police officials and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to treat and transport the injured victims. Official reported two police officers traveling on the van with the inmates were injured in the crash. Authorities at the scene said that one police officer had pain in his head. The other officer complained of knee pain. They were both transported via ambulance to a local hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses. The ten prisoners were apparently uninjured in the wreck, but were evaluated as a safety precaution. It was not reported if the school bus driver was injured.
