Massachusetts Truck Accident Notice: Driver injured in crash with Semi Truck

Brockton, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A man drove his car into oncoming traffic and collided with a tractor-trailer October 7, 2009, announced Enterprise.

Police identified the driver of the vehicle as 21-year-old Norberto Teixeira, resident of Brockton. Massachusetts officials who are investigating the crash believed that Teixeira could have unknowingly coasted into oncoming traffic.

Teixeira was traveling northbound on Main Street when he ended up in the southbound lanes, and crashed into the back of a semi truck around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Police identified the driver of the semi truck as 48-year-old John McPherson, resident of Braintree. Teixeira’s 1997 Toyota spun out of control after the crash and came to a halt on Main Street, just across from the Campello High Rise.

Emergency medical services (EMS) responded to the scene to transport the injured victims. Firefighters used tools to extricate the seriously injured 21-year-old out of his damaged vehicle.

A Trauma helicopter was called in to take Teixeira to the hospital for his serious injuries, but weather did not permit the crew to fly. An ambulance transported Teixeira to the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses. Police continue to investigate the crash.
