LaGrange, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A propane truck was struck by a pickup truck on Noxon Road, which prompted an evacuation of residencies and a local daycare center on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
The driver of the delivery truck privately owned by Coleman Propane, collided with a pickup truck in Dutchess County. Police officials identified the driver of the delivery truck as 50-year-old Chester Turner, resident of Hyde Park. The reckless driver of the pickup truck was identified by police as 26-year-old Ryan Speedling, resident of Poughkeepsie. County Police reported the accident took place when the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck drove across the center line of the road into the southbound lane, where it struck the delivery truck around 7:11 a.m.
The impact of the crash caused the truck to leak fuel. LaGrange firefighters responded to the scene of the crash to evacuate businesses, residencies, and the Tiny Town Children’s Center daycare near the crash site. The majority of people who were evacuated were the children from the daycare.
Emergency medical services transported the two injured men to Saint Francis Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses. Turner was still in the hospital as of Wednesday afternoon. Speedling was reportedly allowed to leave the hospital the same day.
Police have not issued any tickets as of Wednesday. Police officials are currently investigating the accident. Officials closed off a portion of Noxon Road for close to 8 hours. All people evacuated were permitted to go back to the area after 12:30 p.m.
