Motor Vehicle Collision Accident on Route 80 in Parsippany killed 1

Police reported that a vehicle collision in Parsippany, NJ involved a big rig and fatally injured one.

Parsippany, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A car collided with a big rig on Route 80 in the westbound lanes that caused two more collisions Thursday, October 8, 2009, announced the Star-Ledger.

Police identified the driver of the Ford Taurus, which crashed into the rear of the big rig, as 52-year-old Charles Harrigan, resident of Swiftwater around 5:30 a.m. close to the Littleton Road exit.

The big rig driver identified as Angel Hernandez-Sanchez, resident of Houston, left the scene because he had no idea that his vehicle was struck. After the Taurus crashed into the back of the big rig, the crash started a domino effect of vehicles that wrecked. The Taurus was struck by the police squad vehicle along with a Toyota sedan in the left lane of traffic. Harrigan was killed in the collision.

Police identified the driver of the Toyota as 53-year-old Jean Lacroix, resident of Irvington. The police squad car was identified as a Byram Township police vehicle. Neither driver was injured in the crash. State troopers are investigating the first crash that involved the big rig.
