Queens, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – Seven people fell victim to a car that crashed into a Queens’s bus stop Wednesday, October 7, 2009, announced New York Daily News.
The bus stop was located at the Douglaston area of Queens’s where emergency medical services and New York Police Department officers (NYPD) responded to the scene.
The driver of the car reportedly lost control and swerved in the intersection of 65th Avenue and Douglaston Parkway around 8:00 a.m., Wednesday morning.The white Nissan launched through the glass bus stop as commuters were thrown to the ground from the impact of the crash. Police reported that there were seven victims involved in the accident.
The Nissan was attempting to pass a car as the driver lost control on the wet road, and hydroplaned into the people waiting for the bus. The extent of the victim’s injuries were all serious. All seven individuals were transported via emergency medical services (EMS) for treatment to North Shore University Hospital, reported FDNY rescue officials. The Douglaston Parkway was temporarily closed off from traffic traveling both ways due the chaotic scene of the crash. Both lanes have since reopened after the crash was cleared.
All but one of the victims in the crash has been stabilized by doctors and nurses. One victim remained in life-threatening condition. The driver of the Nissan also sustained injuries. His name was not disclosed. Police are investigating the crash to determine if charges will be pressed.
