Correction: “FDNY firefighter dies battling blaze, 2 other firefighters injured” story

In an October 5th story about a New York firefighter dying in a blaze, NewYorkInjuryNews incorrectly reported that an FDNY firefighter was involved in the fire. The firefighter who died was a member of the Yonkers Fire Department.

Yonkers, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – The fire which occurred Friday, October 2, 2009 was located at 149 Waverly Street in Yonkers, New York. Firefighters with the Yonkers Fire Department responded to the residential fire. One of the brave Yonkers’ firemen was killed while 2 others were injured.

New York City Fire Department firefighters (FDNY) were neither present nor involved in the fire that occurred in Yonkers at 149 Waverly Street. Funeral services for the fallen Yonkers firefighter, Patrick Joyce Jr., are being held today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Two fire fighters remain in the hospital in fair condition from injuries they suffered battling the Waverly Street inferno.
