Pennsylvania woman killed in logging truck crash

Springfield Township, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A woman was fatally injured when her sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided with a truck transporting logs on Route 711 Thursday afternoon, announced WPXI news.

The crash took place at around 4 in the afternoon on Thursday in Springfield Township, announced Pennsylvania state troopers. Police of the Uniontown department arrived at the scene. They identified the victim in the SUV as 52-year-old Susan Rugg, resident of Mill Run, Fayette County, Pa.

Police officials reported that the Rugg was traveling south when she swerved over the middle of the road colliding head on with a truck transporting logs. The SUV ricocheted off the truck and landed in a ditch off the side of the road. The impact of the crash spilled 100 gallons of gasoline from the truck on the road.

Rugg was declared dead at the scene. Route 711 was temporarily shut down for workers to clean up the scene of the accident. Police reported that the driver of the logging truck remained unharmed in the collision. Detectives are continuing the investigation.
