Mesothelioma Vermont – Asbestos Contributes to School Opening Delay

An Addison County elementary school will open nearly two weeks later than planned due to an asbestos finding.

Mesothelioma Cancer News (Vermont) – Plans to open an Addison County elementary school have been stagnated by the finding of asbestos and mold. As reported by the Addison County Independent, Addison County Supervisory Union (ACSU) officials recently announced that the Shoreham Elementary school will open almost two weeks after the date students were expecting to begin due to plans for asbestos and mold removal.

Shoreham Elementary principal Heather Best is quoted in the report as stating of the delay and new anticipated Sept. 14 start date, “All the information that we needed to make our best estimate came in yesterday… We are fairly positive that we’ll be able to meet that date.”

A letter has reportedly been sent to Shoreham families announcing the delay.
