Linden, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A multi vehicle accident backed up the New Jersey Turnpike and severely injured one driver, announced the Star-Ledger.

Police reported that the accident on the New Jersey Turnpike made traffic crawl for at least 19 miles and completely shut down the northbound lanes close to exit 13 for three hours after the accident.

The crash that involved multiple vehicles on the northbound side of the highway closed the entire northbound lanes due to the severe accident. The whole length of the interstate highway was temporarily shut down Wednesday morning, reported police.

Drivers sought alternative routes of travel such as the Garden State Parkway, and other local back road’s for their morning commute. The crash took place around 6:45 in the morning and only one person was seriously injured and has been reported. The identities of the drivers involved in the crash have not been announced publicly.

At the Linden exit on the turnpike, drivers are usually subject to half hour delays for their morning commutes. New Jersey Transit authorities claim that the New Jersey Turnpike has never seen a multiple vehicle accident like this one before.
