Houston, TX—A head-on crash in Montgomery County left one teenager dead and five others injured. The fatal two-vehicle collision happened on Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2009 around 4:00 p.m., on FM 2978 about 13 miles east of Magnolia, as reported by The Houston Chronicle.

Authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/index.htm stated a 2003 Honda Pilot driven by Magdaleno Torres Pinon Jr., 16, was traveling south on FM 2978 when he passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Pinon then slammed head-on into a 2007 Volvo SUV, which was traveling south on FM 2978. Pinon was pronounced dead at the scene of the tragic head-on crash by responding emergency medical services (EMS) crews. Three passengers traveling inside the Honda, two teenage girls, and one teenage boy were injured in the wreck. All three victims were transported by area EMS teams to Memorial Hermann Hospital-The Texas Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. One of the injured girls, and the boy are currently listed in stable condition, while the other girl is listed in serious condition. The unidentified driver of the Volvo, and a 13-year-old passenger were also injured in the crash, and were transported by EMS personnel to an area hospital for treatment. Both of the occupants of the Volvo are in good condition, according to medical professionals. Police officials are reportedly conducting a full investigation into the fatal wreck.
