New York man killed in Bobcat accident

Legal News for New York Personal Injury lawyers—a man from Colonie was fatally injured when moving his Bobcat.

Colonie, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A man was trapped in the hydraulics of a bobcat tractor while trying to maneuver the machine, announced WNYT.

Police identified the man as 49-year-old Nicholas Venetz, resident of Colonie, New York, a passerby stopped and attempted to free the man who was beneath the Bobcat on Central Avenue. The injured man was found in Lai’s Trailer Park around 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police reported that Venetz was attempting to move the tractor and leaned out to observe why it was not moving when he accidently stepped on the pedal to raise the bucket, which compresses the arms of the Bobcat.

The operator became trapped between the arms and the frame of the Bobcat. The passerby contacted the police who then responded to the fatal accident. Police declared Venetez dead at the scene.

Police detectives determined that the tractor was not moving due to a flat tire of the rear wheels. Colonie officials believed that Venetz was planning on loading the tractor onto the back of a trailer to take it to an undisclosed location. Fire rescue workers from Midway Fire Department were also present at the scene. The name of the passerby was not disclosed.
