Helicopter crashes on golf course injuring pilot

Dozens of witnesses called to report the damaged helicopter in the middle of the green on the Tanglewood Golf Course. Fire rescue officials reported that helicopter was flying low and then struck a statue on the course before it crashed to the ground. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to treat the injured pilot.

Medical personnel reported the pilot to have sustained only minor injuries in the crash. The pilot was taken via ambulance to Lancaster General Hospital where he was treated by doctors and nurses for his injuries. The pilot was not transporting any passengers at the time of the crash.

State troopers reported that the helicopter was expected to make an appearance for a golf tournament put on to raise funds. One witness on the scene of the crash helped extricate the pilot from the wrecked aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) www.faa.gov/ in cooperation with the National Transportation Safety Board (NSTB) www.ntsb.gov/ officials are doing an investigation to determine the reason for the crash.
