Birdsboro Dump Truck Crash kills 1!

Robeson Township, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A resident of Birdsboro died from fatal wounds due to collision with a dump truck on Route 724 Thursday afternoon, announced the Reading Eagle.

Police reported the 38-year-old Birdsboro man was fatally injured in the impact of the crash with the dump truck. The accident took place in Robeson Township in Berks County.

The Birdsboro man crash when his vehicle swerved into the westbound lanes into the way of an oncoming dump truck on Route 724. A 38-year-old Birdsboro man was killed Thursday afternoon when his car collided head-on with a dump truck on Route 724 in Robeson Township, officials said. The injured driver identified as Matthew Rissmiller, had to be extricated from the damaged vehicle. The dump truck had swerved into the guardrail and landed on the driver’s side.

Gibraltar town and Birdsboro firefighters responded to the accident. The firefighters used the hydraulic rescue tools, known commonly as the “jaws of life”, to extricate the trapped Rissmiller from his wrecked vehicle, as well as the dump truck driver.

An emergency medical vehicle transported Rissmiller to the Reading Hospital where he was declared dead by the Berks County medical examiner that evening. Police identified the driver of the dump truck as 40-year-old Michael Arena, resident of Plymouth Meeting. The dump truck driver suffered a leg injury and was also transported to Reading Hospital. He was in stable condition as of today.
