11 inmates hospitalized after Sheriff’s bus struck by car!

Sandwich, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – Massachusetts Barnstable County Department vehicle crash sent 11 inmates and one sheriff to the hospital, announced the Cape Cod Times.

The vehicle that hit the Department bus from behind was identified as a Honda CR-V that was traveling heading westbound on Route 6 between exits 1 and 2 at 3:15 in the afternoon. The Honda sustained minor damages. The 13 inmate passengers traveling on board the bus were heading to the Barnstable County Correctional Facility located in Bourne.

11 inmates were transported via ambulance to Cape Cod and Falmouth hospital and medical centers to be treated for their injuries by doctors and nurses. One sheriff also sustained minor injuries in the crash. The driver of the police van remained uninjured in the accident.

The female driver of the Honda was not harmed in the crash. Sources reported that 6 emergency medical vehicles responded to the scene to transport the injured. The highway did not close, although traffic was slowed down due to the crash and construction road work.The conditions of the inmates or the sheriff were not known.
