New Jersey Personal Injury Alert: Bayonne pedestrian hit by school bus!

Jersey City, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A woman from Bayonne, New Jersey was struck by a school bus when she was walking across the street on Monday, announced the Jersey Journal.

The accident took place at the corner of Avenue C and 54th Street, according to New Jersey police officials. The 26-year-old woman, resident of Bayonne, had been crossing the street when she was struck by the school bus, which kept going after the accident. The driver had no idea that he had hit anyone.

Police reported that the driver of the school bus hit the Bayonne woman at around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived to transport the injured pedestrian to the Jersey City Medical Center to be treated for her head injuries, and broken legs along with other minor injuries.

Police identified the bus driver as a retired Bayonne police official, 69, who hit the woman. The school bus did not have any passengers at the time of the crash. Police did not issue any tickets to the driver of the bus for the incident.

The pedestrian woman had walked across the street when the school bus went to turn left on a green light when the bus hit and critically injured her. Another driver, who witnessed the accident, caught the bus driver’s attention to inform him that he had struck the woman.

The bus driver said that he did not think that he hit the pedestrian. He said that he did not feel anything when he struck the woman. The woman, who remains unidentified, was still in serious condition as of Monday night.
