Southbury, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A school bus crashed into another vehicle while it was transporting 12 children in Southbury on Tuesday morning, announced CNN.
Witnesses reported the crash to have happened around 7:45 a.m. when the school bus collided with a Toyota Camry. Officials reported that the school bus was heading north on Main Street when it collided with a Toyota Camry that was heading west on Lakeside Road.
The school bus was traveling to Rochambeau Middle School at the time of the accident. The bus, traveling with 12 middle school children on board, slammed into the passenger side of the Toyota Camry injuring the driver and 2 passengers.
Emergency medical services (EMS) and police responded to the accident. All 12 children on board the school bus were transported to the St. Mary’s Hospital for doctors to examine them for possible injuries.
Connecticut police officials reported that the driver of the Camry was a mother transporting her two young children at the time of the crash. The 3-year-old daughter was taken to the Danbury Hospital along with her mother, to be treated for minor injuries. The mother’s 5-year-old son was transported via ambulance to Waterbury Hospital, but then quickly transferred to Hartford Hospital due to his life-threatening injuries.
