Pittsburgh, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A head-on collision on Route 40 Tuesday night injured two children and three adults, announced the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The operator of the pickup truck traveling down Route 40 with his new fiancée and two children, riding in the back seat, when he decided to look at his future wife and kiss her taking his eyes off the road. Suddenly, the pickup truck veered into the eastbound lanes from out of the westbound lanes, right into oncoming traffic. The driver of the pickup saw a red vehicle driving directly at him and colliding head on. The driver of the red car, identified as 32-year-old Brian Schaffer sustained a punctured lung and fractured ribs.

His fiancée, identified as Kristi Burchick, suffered a fractured nose and other minor injuries. 34-year-old Brian Lloyd told police that the pickup truck pulled right in front of him and he slammed on the breaks.

The four people in the pickup truck and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to area hospitals in Pittsburgh. One of the children identified as their son, suffered a concussion while the girl, identified as the step daughter, suffered minor injuries.
The Dodge pickup driver, Brian Schaffer, 32, suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung, while passenger Kristi Burchick, 28, had bruises and busted nose. Police have not filed any charges yet. The investigation continues.
