Connecticut Construction Accident: Worker at Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. plant killed!

Concord, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A worker at Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. factory was killed after being trapped underneath a forklift Tuesday evening, announced the Concord-Monitor. The Advanced Recycling factory worker suffered fatal injuries after he was crushed to death by a forklift.

No one at the factory would comment on the industrial accident as of yet. Police and Fire Rescue officials reported to the scene. Authorities have not released how the accident occurred.

The Steel factory employee was identified as 33-year-old Todd Leach announced WMUR. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) www.OSHA.gov had took the lead for the investigation of the death. Firefighters and Concord police officials reported to the scene. They cleaned the accident in less than an hour. It was not stated as to whether or not the man’s remains were taken to the Medical Examiner’s office.

The Steel Company is metal recycling business that deals with scrap metal and sends the processed product to steel mills for their use. The Schnitzer Industries plant is located on Sandquist Street. A manager who was working at the time of the accident only stated that officials would have to call the business office to acquire more information about what had taken place Tuesday night.
