Staten Island, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A Staten Island school bus collided with a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) then crashed into a resident’s backyard injuring four people, announced New York Daily News.

New York Fire Department rescue officials (FDNY) responded to the scene of the accident on Thursday where 26 children were on board when the SUV Cadillac Escalade crashed into the school bus transporting children home from school.

The Staten Island-supported school bus was transported the children home from Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School when the crash happened around 3 p.m. Both vehicles catapulted through a homeowners backyard fence and landed in the yard.

Fire Rescue officials arrived and had to remove the driver and the passenger of the SUV out of the badly damaged vehicle. Two students traveling in the school bus, along with the 65-year-old bus operator, were taken to a local medical center to be treated for their injuries.

The passenger in the SUV was identified only as an 11-year-old boy. The other identities of the injured have not been released to the public as of yet. The conditions of the injured are not known.
