New Jersey driver jumps off overpass after collision

Legal News for New Jersey Motor Vehicle Accident Attorneys—Tinton Falls man fatally injured in vehicle collision on Garden State Parkway in New Jersey after jumping off overpass.

Cranford, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A resident of Tinton Falls was declared dead as of Sunday night after his vehicle collided with another car and went off a highway overpass, reported New Jersey Officials, announced the Asbury Park Press.

The two vehicles were traveling on the Garden State Parkway in the northbound lanes where police reported to the scene of the accident Sunday evening around 7 p.m. The police identified the driver whose vehicle had flown off the highway as 30-year-old Todd Hugus, resident of Tinton Falls. Police investigators believe that Hugus’ vehicle happened to fall off the highway after the collision.

Investigators reported that Hugus landed 50 feet below the highway overpass next to the railroad tracks. New Jersey transportation on the railroad was temporarily closed for use due to the crash, but has since reopened.

The passenger in Hugus’ vehicle did not sustain any major injuries after the crash. Hugus suffered fatal injuries and was taken immediately to a hospital nearby via ambulance to be treated by doctors and nurses. Doctors declared him dead less than two hours after the accident.

Police officials withheld the information regarding the crash stating that a possible medical condition may have been a contributing factor into the accident and a possible deliberate leap off the overpass. Police did not release the identity of the passenger or the identity of the other vehicle driver involved.
