New York’s Suffolk County Investigator injured by DWI driver

Long Island Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyers issue a notice that a detective was injured on-duty when a drugged-driver smashed into his police vehicle.

An on-duty police officer in East Islip was crashed into by a motor vehicle where the driver was charged for possession of drugs.

Suffolk County, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – Officials reported that a vehicle rear-ended an on-duty police investigator in East Islip on Monday night, announced Newsday.

Authorities on Long Island stated that the on-duty Suffolk County detective was struck from behind by a woman who was reportedly under the influence of illicit drugs at the time of the accident.

After the 22-year-old woman crashed into the deputy’s undercover vehicle, it was pushed into a cement divider, which injured the officer. Emergency medical services (EMS) reported to the scene to transport the injured policeman to the hospital where he was treated by doctors and nurses for back injuries. The hospital where he was taken was not identified. The accident occurred on Sunrise Highway Monday evening.

Police identified the 22-year-old driver as Rosemarie Tuminaro, resident of Manorville. Police on the scene arrested Rosemarie Tuminaro after the crash when police discovered that she possessed heroin in her vehicle and was high on illicit drugs when she struck the officers department vehicle. The 22-year-old was detained Monday night in a jail cell for charges brought against her on Tuesday. Rosemarie’s lawyer’s identity was not made available. The police investigator did not suffer from life-threatening injuries.
