New Jersey Construction Accident Lawyer posts bulletin – Irrigation construction worker stranded in work hole until rescue official came to pull him out.
Southampton, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – New Jersey officials reported that a construction worker was left stranded in a muddy work hole for more than 4 hours until rescue workers found him, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The construction worker was stranded in the on-site hole located in Burlington County, reported officials. Rescue workers and police arrived to the scene where the man was lifted to safety out of the 6-foot deep dirt hole. The irrigation worker was identified as 24-year-old Mauriello of Berlin, NJ. Police officials reported that the rescue situation occurred around 6 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene and Mauriello was transported via trauma helicopter to Cooper University Hospital in Camden to be treated by doctors and nurses. Medical officials declared that his condition was not fatal.
Police also reported that Mauriello had been left stranded in the hole since 1p.m. on Thursday afternoon. Mauriello had been in the hole attempting to mend a water pipeline that was leaking in a retirement community. When rescue officials found Mauriello, the mud walls of the hole had slid down around him and the murk and mud had climbed up around his thighs.
