New Jersey teenager killed in motor vehicle accident, 2 others injured

New Jersey Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyer reports that a teen driver died after running into a pole and a mailbox that injured 2 passengers.

Englishtown, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – In Monmouth County, part of New York’s metropolitan area, a fatal vehicle accident occurred between a car and a pickup truck, announced the Star- Ledger. Police reported that 18-year-old driver from Monroe suffered fatal injuries when he crashed into a pickup truck than ricocheted off into a telephone poll and then smashed into a cement mailbox.

Officials identified the teenager as Matthew Bowdenhodge, who was declared dead at the scene of the accident by medical personnel Tuesday evening. There were two other female passengers, 19 and 22-years old, traveling with Matthew in the 2004 Toyota Camry at the time of the accident. Officials reported that both females sustained severe injuries in the crash.

Before Bowdenhodge crashed, he was heading westbound on Wood Avenue when he attempted to pass a pickup truck and was about to make a left-hand turn. Bowdenhodge was trying to pass on the left side of the 1989 Chevy pickup when the Bowdenhodge’s Camry struck the truck and went flying off the street. Emergency medical services (EMS) took one of the injured girls via trauma helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick while the other female in the crash was taken via ambulance, reported police.
